APPLE BLOSSOM FARM, COLLINSVALE.

Nestled in the picturesque foothills beneath kunanyi / Mount Wellington, just 30 minutes from Hobart, Apple Blossom Farm is a three-acre country garden that has been thoughtfully created over more than 25 years by Jason and Janette Good. Originally established as a private family garden to enjoy and share with family and friends, it has gradually evolved into a welcoming destination for visitors seeking inspiration for their own gardens.

At the heart of the property is a one-acre Cottage Garden, designed as a series of interconnected garden rooms linked by winding paths. Each area has its own character, inviting visitors to slow down, explore and discover something new around every corner. Mature trees provide structure and shade, while woodland walks, colourful perennial borders, quiet seating areas and sweeping lawns create a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere.

Visitors joining us in late October will experience the garden as spring builds towards its peak. Flowering cherries, viburnums, clematis, rhododendrons, irises and drifts of spring bulbs bring vibrant colour throughout the garden, while fresh foliage and emerging perennials signal the changing season. The carefully layered plantings demonstrate how trees, shrubs, bulbs and herbaceous plants can be combined to create interest throughout the year.

Apple Blossom Farm is filled with distinctive features that reflect the creativity and personality of its owners. Along the journey you will discover a hanging pot tree, over ten ponds and water features, heritage farm equipment, and garden ornaments, a cast iron bed planted with succulents, and many quiet places to sit and appreciate the surrounding landscape. Three of the ponds are connected by a recirculating stream that flows beneath a bridge, creating movement, sound and valuable habitat for frogs, birds and other wildlife.

Beyond the Cottage Garden lies the orchard precinct, where visitors can explore the large Orangery glass house nestled amongst mature fruit trees. This exciting addition to the property showcases the couple’s passion for propagation, unusual plants and year-round gardening, while complementing the historic character of the farm.

Throughout your visit, Jason and Janette enjoy sharing the story of the garden’s evolution, the lessons they have learned over more than two decades, and practical ideas that visitors can adapt to their own gardens. Their philosophy is simple: create gardens that are beautiful, welcoming and deeply enjoyable to spend time in.

Apple Blossom Farm is also the home of Good Gardening Ways, a popular free weekly newsletter that inspires gardeners throughout Australia and beyond with practical advice, seasonal gardening ideas and the ongoing story of the garden’s development.
